I finally got myself to record and upload one of the presentation I’ve shown this spring at a conference. At the moment these were made I was quite proud of them.
Without further ado, I give you the presentation of my paper called “Online Advertising As A Promotion Mechanism, A Way To Monetize And A Source Of Information“.
The paper was presented at at the conference <Conferinta anuala a doctoranzilor in stiinte economice, “Schimbari de logica dominanta la nivel european în condi?iile crizei economice mondiale”> held by the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, Romania in May 2009.
This is the second conference I ever attended as a speaker, the presentation I gave at the first conference will follow in the next few days.

Do you remember what you have been thought when you were a child? When you parents and teachers were telling you that quitters are losers and that you must hang on to what you’re doing until you get it done? Yes? Great!
But do you remember what you’ve read that life is too short to take crap from anybody? Carpe Diem and that sort of things? Yes? Great!
Now, aren’t these things kind of divergent? What if you take on a really crappy project, your boss gives you shit 24/7, what do you do? Tell him to go f… do some private activities by himself and Seize the Day! Or do you hang on because you are not a loser and quitters are losers. And maybe there is some treat at the end of that long, dark tunnel.
How can you tell when wise means quitting and when wise means holding on to that crappy assignment, or whatever, as though you life depends on it? Opportunity cost really sucks, and Barry Schwartz even proves it!
I guess the ones that are blessed with enough ignorance and wisdom to take a decision and consider it the best are the winners here. But for the rest of us, there are situation when no matter what we would choose it will make us feel like losers. Either because we have to quit doing something or because we are wasting that precious little time we have with doing shit we hate in the hope of some reward.
