Well, it's difficult not to get mad in Romania and I admit I get angry very often when I visit my parents in Brasov because of the treatment I get in shops, banks, restaurants, bars :) I agree with you - show your good will, treat me with respect and I'll be happy and won't complain if something goes wrong in the process.

It's true also that it's not ok to shut up, be satisfied with whatever you get. But just talking to/yelling at/confronting the service provider or complaining about the experience among friends won't do much good. I'm a fan of action: call Consumer Protection Authorities, sue the bastards and that way teach them a lesson :) Otherwise the problem will last forever. As a matter of fact I believe that's one of the key problems Romania has: people spend all their energy on talking and have none left for actually doing something :)

You know what they say – Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes… :). I find it difficult not to abuse the right to be dissatisfied. By the way, badly translated movies / books make me go crazy too.

What I find myself doing is judging what people are doing. If someone is giving his/her best and is not being cocky – I let a lot of things slide. Arrogance and stupidity, on the other hand, are my Kryptonite :).

I try to think before I open my mouth and imagine the other side of the story :) I'm a translator and I used to make nasty comments when I watched a movie that was poorly translated. That was till the day I started translating a soap opera for television and I saw that one seldom gets enough time to do the job right.

Sometimes the material you have to work on has a really lousy sound and sometimes you get it right as a translator but the one who's doing the proof-reading corrects a mistake that doesn't exist and the result is laughable and so on...

When I am really displeased with the services I get, I take my business elsewhere and hope the other customers do the same :)
